DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM
Providing medical and humanitarian
aid, wherever it’s needed
When disaster strikes, that’s when we need each other most. No matter how great the need is – or where – we do everything in our power to quickly mobilize and provide the necessary aid. We collect and deliver emergency supplies and donations, and whenever possible, our medical team travels, sets up clinics, and treats as many patients as they can see each day.
BACKGROUND
In 2016, after a devastating earthquake struck the coastal region of Ecuador, the Disaster Relief Program was born, albeit not out of any planned design. With an assembled team of medical volunteers and supplies, Mindo Futures answered the call and provided medical and humanitarian aid to those affected.

In 2017, while Hurricane Maria was fast approaching the island of Puerto Rico, Mindo Futures was already preparing a medical and humanitarian team to travel to the island, bringing with them an evolving, maturing model of relief aid – simple, yet impactful, and above all, done with love. Two different trips over a 60-day span, into the same communities each trip, really provided very effective care and help for the people in need, while the healthcare system was being brought back to life after such a devastating storm.

Sure enough, previous experience in this very specific, precise, and difficult field of work came into good use in 2019. When Hurricane Dorian ravaged the islands of the Bahamas with unprecedented winds and surge, we knew that we needed to be ready to go and serve the people of our neighboring islands. In just a matter of days, we were able to put together two different volunteer relief teams of 44 physicians, nurses, and logistical personnel, for two consecutive relief trips to Grand Bahama Island, with 2.5 tons of much needed medicine and medical supplies, as well as two 40-foot containers filled with 20 pallets each, of humanitarian relief aid that was donated by our local community.

Now, there is simply no turning back. The organization’s medical and logistical knowledge, along with both the ability to execute and a strong desire to serve, has become the driving force of this growing expansion of the Mindo Futures mission. No one wants to see disaster strikes. But when it does, Mindo Futures will be there to answer the call.
